The December meeting of the Climbers Club was held in the beautiful home of Dr. and Mrs. Jeffery Clark.
Guests arrived to enjoy the festive holiday decorations and joyous sounds of the season.
The Climbers were greeted at the front door by Mrs. Jeffery Clark and invited into the dining room where they were treated to a delightful array of Christmas candies, lemon tarts and delectable red velvet cupcakes topped off with a cup of hot wassail, all served on beautiful Christmas china.
Mrs. John Behan welcomed everyone as she called the meeting to order. Mrs. Jeffrey Clark gave heartfelt introductory comments as she presented her uncle, Lee Jones, to the interested group.
Jones, the owner of J. M. Jones Lumber in Natchez, which is the oldest continuous operating family business in South Mississippi and West Louisiana, entertained the group with his knowledge of the Mayan Civilization.
His timely discussion of the predictions of the Mayan calendar was captivating. He has a genuine interest in the Mayan culture because of their ties to Natchez and his encounters in the Yukatan. He shared with members his experiences from having taken more than 80 trips to the Yukatan and visiting more than 300 archeological sites.
Mrs. Behan concluded the program with inspiring Christmas wishes to the group.
Assisting as hostesses were Mrs. Owen Carty, Mrs. Robert Jones, Mrs. Tom Brady Jr., and Mrs. J.J. Breeland.
