Mildred Calcote Ballard

Funeral services for Mildred Calcote Ballard, of Jayess, are 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at Forest Grove Methodist Protestant Church in Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.

     Mrs. Ballard, 83, died Jan. 8, 2013, at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on May 2, 1929, to Barney and Marie King Calcote.

     She retired from Kellwood of Monticello to got to work at Kellwood Outlet and worked there 50 years. Even working outside the home for so many years, she found time to be active in the church, teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and serving on various committees. She loved her children and grandchildren very much, so much that she raised them to love the Lord.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Dewey Rudolph Ballard; brothers, Robert Calcote and Richard Calcote; and son-in-law, Rickey Holmes.

     Survivors are her daughters, Rita B. Tanksley and husband, Rocky, of Jayess, Renee Holmes Simpson and husband, Brett, of Sontag, and Ronda Butler and husband, Jody, of Brookhaven; son, Rayford Ballard and wife, Peggy, of Jayess; sisters, Sarah King, of Monticello, Voncile Benoit, of Monticello, Joann Ledet, of Raceland, La., Sue Armstrong, of Jayess, and Jean, of Raceland, La.; brothers, Barney Lee Calcote, of Monticello, Frank Calcote, of Monticello, Glenn Calcote, of Jayess, and Jerry Calcote, of Jackson; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
