Wesson boys, BC girls win Co-Lin Jr. High Tournament

WESSON – The Wesson Cobras and the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured the Co-Lin Junior High Conference Tournament basketball championships Thursday night in the Snake Pit. Wesson’s boys posted a 61-36 victory over Loyd Star and BC’s girls authored a 25-21 win against the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets.
Wesson 61, Loyd Star 36
A 26-point outburst by Eric Rhymes sparked Coach Rusty Newman’s unbeaten (12-0) squad past Loyd Star. Arthur Harris chipped in 13 points and Jermaine James 8.
The Hornets got 25 points from Zaccheous Arnold and 6 from Willie Logan. They trailed 28-13 at halftime.
BC 25, Enterprise 21
Ten points by Teneshia May and 7 by Makeriah Smith sparked Coach Christi Terrell’s Lady Cats over Enterprise. They outscored the Jackets 14-9 in the fourth quarter rally.
Enterprise got 12 points from Alyssa Barlow and 5 from Carlee Nations.
BC 31, Loyd Star 37 In the semifinals, Bogue Chitto’s girls were powered by Jayla Black’s 14 points. Smith and May each had 5 points.
Loyd Star was led by Makenzie Smith’s 10 points. Caylee Grace Yarborough added 7 points and Kaylea Smith 5.
Wesson 36, W. Lincoln 26
Rhymes scored 14 points in the win over West Lincoln. Harris chipped in 9 points, Brian Thomas 5 and Jeremy Smith 4.
Eight points by Michael Quin led the Bears. Landon Lynch, Seth Bivens and Jordan Montgomery each had 4 points.
