Maggie Cupit a real life hero in a big way

Heroes come in all sizes, shapes, colors and genders, and Brookhaven native Maggie Cupit is definitely one in a big way.

To look at the vibrant young college student today, you’d find it hard to believe that only two years ago she was at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital battling cancer for her life.

Today, Maggie is working on a chemistry major/premed and religion minor at Rhodes College in Memphis with plans to be a pediatric oncologist – that’s a doctor who specializes in treating kids with cancer. Her religion minor is aimed at also enabling her to help children with life-threatening illnesses deal with the many other questions that surface in the course of their treatment.

Maggie’s also helping St. Jude’s fundraising efforts. She recently was featured in an Internet video for the research hospital. You can check it out by going to youtube.com and searching for Expedia Find Your Strength.

Besides going to school and helping raise funds for St. Jude, Maggie also works in a research lab at the hospital, looking into alternative cancer treatments.

Maggie’s life story so far is, to put it quite simply, amazing. And we’re looking for even more exciting chapters to come.
