Enterprise girls win big

FOXWORTH – Center Veonka Sanders accounted for 19 points and 13 rebounds in leading the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets to a 56-29 rout of East Marion’s girls in Region 7-2A basketball action. Caroleah Brister chipped in 16 points and Megan Rippy 12 in the Tuesday night triumph.

Enterprise hosts Loyd Star Tuesday, Jan. 29, for more Region 7-2A basketball. The varsity girls start at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30.

The Lady Jackets (11-13, 2-4) dominated East Marion’s Lady Eagles, taking a 21-7, first-quarter lead. They led 36-16 at halftime.

“We shot the ball very well in the first half,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “I was very proud of the team effort the girls showed.”

Sanders also had 3 steals and 2 assists in the win. Brister grabbed 5 rebounds, made 3 steals and 2 assists.

The Eagles got 17 points from Adrianna Howard before she fouled out.
