W. Lincoln Bears plunder Cathedral

Senior forward Lucas Burris tossed in 14 points and the West Lincoln Bears buried Natchez Cathedral 96-45 Friday night in Jack Case Gymnasium. Darrius Clark chipped in 13 points and Tamarcus London 11 in the Region 7-1A rampage.

In the girls game, Cathedral’s Lady Green Wave edged West Lincoln 20-19 in a cold-shooting night.

West Lincoln hosts Bogue Chitto Tuesday night for a Region 7-1A twinbill, starting with the varsity girls at 6. On Friday, West Lincoln hosts Wesson for its final game of the regular season.

The Bears (23-2, 7-0) roared to a lopsided 57-23 halftime lead over the Greenies. That allowed Coach Lane Young to substitute earlier than usual.

Cathedral was led by R.J. Givens who scored 15 points and James Coley who netted 11.

The Lady Bears (4-15, 3-6) only made 6 of 48 field goal attempts in the disappointing setback. Nine points by Destiny Allen led them in scoring.

“You can’t beat anybody shooting like that,” said Coach Young. His girls went scoreless in the third quarter.

Cathedral got 9 points from Sarah Beth Willard.

Jr. Varsity Results
