Bogue Chitto first in region powerlift

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto powerlifting team captured their fourth straight Region 4-1A championship Saturday. They amassed 74 points and won 8 weight divisions.
West Lincoln was runner-up with 42 points and 2 first places. Vicksburg St. Aloysius was third with 17 points.
“I was extremely proud of our team’s efforts,” said BC coach Chad Norton. “They have been working hard to get ready for this meet. Now we have to continue grinding in the weight room to prepare for the South State meet next month.”
Norton said he appreciated all the volunteers who helped make the event a success. “I would like to thank everyone who helped make our meet a success.”
Finishing in first place for the Bobcats were Kobe Roberts, 114-pound class; Zeke Wallace, 148; Robert Bonds, 165; Devin McEwen, 198; Damien Terrell, 181; Jermaine Blackwell, 242; Jeremy Blackwell, 275; and Devarus Bullard, super heavyweight.
Jeremy Blackwell set lifting records of 475 pounds in the squat, 550 in the deadlift and 1,270 total. Nick Parker posed a 350 in the deadlift and Robert Bonds had 460 mark in the deadlift. Devin McEwen recorded a 420 in the squat and Jermaine Blackwell totaled 445 in the squat.
Bobcats in second place were Nick Parker, 132; Deion Williams, 165; and Hayden Burton, 308. Third place went to Austin Buffington, 242.
West Lincoln was led by first place finishers Luke Barrilleaux, 220; and Dalton Brown, 308. Second place went to Jamin Conrad, 181; Matthew Elkins, 198; Lee Chisolm, 220; and Nathaniel Fauver, 242.
Third place went to Brennan Cagle, 132; and Tyler Moak, 275. Finishing fourth was Joey Porter at 242.
