BA Cougars rip Columbia Academy

COLUMBIA – Senior forward Gage Posey pumped in 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in sparking the Brookhaven Academy Cougars to a 67-32 Tuesday night trouncing of the Columbia Academy Cougars in District 5-AA action. The BA girls lost to Columbia 58-21 as Jacklyn Wilks pumped in 13 points for the winners

Brookhaven Academy makes its final home floor appearance of the regular season Friday night, hosting the Trinity Episcopal Saints for a district test. South State begins Monday in BA’s John R. Gray Gymnasium.

The BA Cougars (21-11, 4-1) raced to a 30-20 halftime lead and outscored the hosts 24-4 in the third quarter. They got 8 assists and 6 steals from Matthew Evans, plus 8 points and 4 rebounds. Posey had 5 assists and 4 steals.

The Lady Cougars (8-20, 2-3) fell behind 20-2 at the end of the first quarter and didn’t recover on a cold-shooting night. Six points by Hillary Wilson led BA in scoring.
