Funeral services for Nita “Mickey” Hayes Russell of Brookhaven are 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Russell, 65, died Feb. 13, 2013 at her home. She was born in Mississippi on Jan. 6, 1948.

She was an exceptional mother and grandmother. She was everyone’s “Mamaw Mickey.” She loved cooking and doing for others. Mrs. Russell brought lots of joy to the hearts of everyone that knew her and loved her. She was an amazing woman that will be dearly missed.

Preceding her in death was her father, Rufus Hayes.

Survivors are her mother, Mattie Givens Hayes; son, Douglas McCarty; daughters, Lana Russell Swarts and Rhonda Russell Lambert; brothers, Edward Hayes and Joe Hayes; sisters, Nell Behan and Barbara Munn; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Carlie, Chas, Caleigh, Savanna, Brianna and Britney; four great-grandchildren, Braxton, Sarah, Mia and Jayson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
