Bozeman, Currie take first in Spring Thaw

Brookhaven’s Jacob Bozeman in boys 18s and Madi Currie in girls 16s won singles titles last Saturday in the Brookhill Spring Thaw Juniors Tournament. Tournament director David Misner said 62 players from across Mississippi, plus Arkansas and Minnesota, participated in the tennis tourney.

In doubles action, Bozeman and Will Johnson of McComb took first place in boys 18s. Missy Clanton and Shelby Flumm finished first in girls 14s doubles.

Boys 12- Daniel Panzica placed 3rd, defeating Dawson Martin 6-1, 6-1

Boys 14- Will Moak placed 4th, losing to Garrett Clark (Jxn) 6-1, 6-1

Boys 18- Jacob Bozeman defeated Levi Howse (Minn) for 1st place 6-4, 4-6, 11-9

Girls 14- Missy Clanton placed 2nd, losing to Shelby Worsham(Ark) 6-0,6-0

Girls 14- Bailey Stewart placed 3rd, defeating Meredith Bozeman 6-4, 6-2

Girls 16- Madi Currie defeated Marlee Watts 6-2.6-2 for 1st place

Girls 16- Lindsey Winborne placed 3rd, defeating Sara Willis (Jxn) 6-1,6-1

Girls 16- Kara Clark placed 5th, defeating Katy Clark 4-6,6-3,10-7

Girls 18- Madison Warren placed 2nd, losing to Brittany Wilkinson (Jxn) 7-6,7-5

Doubles

Boys 12- Dawson Martin/William Kesterson (Ocean Springs) defeated Johnson/Johnson (McComb) 8-3 for 1st place

Boys 14- Will Moak/Daniel Panzica placed 2nd, losing to Clark/Morgan(Jxn) 8-2

Boys 18- Jacob Bozeman/ Will Johnson(McComb) defeated Guthrie (Port Gibson)/Howse(Minn) 8-4 for 1st place

Girls 14- Missy Clanton/Shelby Flumm defeated Graves/Whittington (Hazlehurst) 8-1 for 1st place
