Ruby Lee Smith Carlisle

Ruby Lee Smith Carlisle went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Brookhaven.
Mrs. Carlisle, 86, was born on May 4, 1926, to Charlie and Ollie Smith of Brookhaven.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved cooking, camping, fishing, traveling and personal bible study.
Mrs. Carlisle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. John L. Carlisle; her sisters, Wisie Smith and Lou Mae Williamson; and her brothers, Ernest Smith, Willie Smith, Jessie Smith and John Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Laverne Gregory and husband Gary of Brandon; JoAnn Fortenberry and husband Joe; and Sherry Hux and husband Ronnie, all of Fair River community.
Mrs. Carlisle is also survived by her grandchildren, Tammy Lee Garver and husband Doug of Brandon; Melissa Ann James and husband Lance of Fair River; Malinda Lee Bowlin and husband Keith of West Lincoln; Joey Hux and wife Nikki of Brookhaven; Nathaniel Reeves and wife Jennifer of Brookhaven; Stephanie Smith and husband Jake of Ruth; and Ryan Barlow and wife Katelan of Pearl.
Great-grandchildren include Douglas Mitchell and William Matthew Garver; Brittney Cheyenne, Savannah Lee, Cierra Dawn, Skylar Ann and Carli Jo Judd; Ashley James; John Austin and Abby Grace Bowlin; Mackenzie Claire and Myleigh Rae Hux; James Garrett, Gage Alan and John Gavin Reeves; Kelsey Marie, Maggie Brooke and Riley Jo Smith; and Isabella Kate Barlow.
She is also survived by her special brother Harold Smith and wife Francis; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Smith and Mary Lou Smith, all of Brookhaven; many nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Virginia Garver (also family member), Nancy Weeks, Sarah Beeson, Vicki Boutwell and Carolyn Page.
The family wishes to thank all who assisted in her time of need from Silver Cross Home and King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Visitation for Mrs. Carlisle will be Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 5 until 8:30 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive location.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow at Fair River Baptist Church Cemetery, Brookhaven.
The Rev. Bendon Ginn will officiate.
