Sophomore southpaw Caleb Yarborough struck out 9 batters and walked 2 in pitching the Loyd Star Hornets to a frosty, 5-1 Thursday night victory against Bogue Chitto in the Lincoln County Baseball Tournament at West Lincoln’s Cow Palace. He allowed just 3 hits.

Coach Jared Britt’s Hornets (4-0) got a double, a single and 2 RBI from Logan Smith. Branden Canny doubled. Brett Calcote singled and Cori Crowe had an RBI single as they took a 1-0 lead in the third and scored 3 more runs in the fifth, to lead 4-0.

Loyd Star committed 3 errors in the win. Zach Avants (9K, 4BB) allowed 5 hits and absorbed the loss.

The Bobcats got 2 singles and an RBI from Brock Roberts. Garrett Anders singled. Coach Russ Carter’s team committed 2 errors.
