Funeral services for George Harold Reid of Brookhaven are 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Reid, 83, died March 15, 2013, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Lawrence County on Feb. 11, 1930, to William “Billy” Reid and Nora Ard Reid Fuller.
He was a retired butcher from the A and P Tea Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Reid was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Fair River Masonic Lodge.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed being outdoors. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; loving wife, Mary Jean Reid; brothers, Billy Ford Reid, Joe Fuller and Edwin Fuller; sisters, Nina Avants, June Barnett and Kathryn Bales; and a stepson, Tommy Sanders.
Survivors are his three children, Tina Sykes and husband, Frankie, of Brookhaven, William Reid of Ohio and Chris Reid and wife, Keiza, of Brookhaven; stepdaughter, Inez Osmun of Grenada; stepson, Terry Sanders of Carthage; brother, Rome Fuller of Ruth; and sister, Geneva Arnold of Bogue Chitto.
He also leaves behind six loving grandchildren, Justin Sykes and wife, Erin, of Brunswick, Ga., Ashley Sykes of Brookhaven and Peyton, Bailey, Linley and Madlyn Reid, of Brookhaven; great grandson, Braxton Sykes of Brunswick, Ga.; along with 10 step-grandchildren and a host of step-great-grandchildren.
