Lady Cats thump Salem

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats climbed back into the win column Thursday night with a 6-1 victory over the Salem Lady Wildcats in an non divisional softball contest.

“We did a good job putting things together in the third inning. We managed to put down some good bunts and had several key hits.”

The Lady Cats (10-4, 1-1) managed to break up the scoreless game in the third inning with a six-run explosion.

Salem finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning as they managed to fight through BC’s tough defense and push across one run.

Freshmen Alana Nettles (4-0) tossed the win for the Lady Cats with nine strikeouts and five walks.

Rachel Bond absorbed the loss for the Lady Wildcats with three strikeouts and no walks.

Mattie Avants, Colby Kirkland and Mallory Allen provided the offensive punch to lead BC’s offense with a pair of singles each. Hitting safely were Adrienne Wallace, Alexis Givens, Alana Nettles, Rheagan Welch and Kerri McGehee.

Kristen Dillon was the offensive leader for Salem with two singles. Courtney Brumfield, Mollie Davis and Bond hit a single each.

In JV action, BC defeated Salem 6-2.

Lauren McCaffery pitched the win for BC with three strikeouts and no walks.

McCaffery sparked the Lady Cats at the plate with a home run and two singles. Zariah Matthews fueled the flames with two singles. Brooke Myers had a single.
