WESSON – Winning pitcher Abbey Smith scattered 5 hits and the Wesson Lady Cobras crushed Enterprise’s Lady Jackets 13-1 Tuesday in Region 7-2A softball action. Smith struck out   1 batter and walked 1 in the abbreviated 4-inning game.

     The Lady Cobras (14-4, 8-0), fresh from clinching the region championship for Coach Jackie Johnson, made quick work of Enterprise. Haley Nations was the losing pitcher.

     At the plate, 2 singles and a double by Hanna Brown directed Wesson’s 9-hit offensive. Kayla Britt, Taylor Smith and Sarah Robinson doubled. Ashton Newman, Macie McQuage and Abbey Smith singled as Wesson took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first, scored once in the second and plated 6 more runs in the third.

     Enterprise, slowed by 4 errors, got  doubles from Hanna Kirtfield and Kristen Jergins. Ashley Boyd, Nicole Rutland and Kinsey Dahlin singled.

Junior Varsity Results

     In the JV game, Wesson edged Enterprise 7-5. Two triples by Brooke Page powered the win . Mary Beth Munn tripled. Sabrina Green doubled. Anna Speights singled twice. Kaitlyn Smith, Cheyenne Gladden and Amber Brinson singled.
