Enterprise tennis team advances in 2A playoffs

COLUMBIA – Led by Kennedy Hutson and Christi Waldrop in No. 1 girls doubles, the Enterprise Yellow Jackets defeated the East Marion Eagles 5-2 in the opening round of the Class 2A Team Tennis state playoffs. Enterprise also won No. 2 girls doubles as Kennedy Branton and Nancy Bacot prevailed in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

Enterprise, coached by Chase Wallace and Leah Brister, advances to the South State finals and plays at Clarkdale Tuesday. During the regular season, Enterprise lost to Clarkdale in a tie-breaker at Meridian.

The Class 2A state tournament will be held at Jackson’s Parham Bridges Tennis Center. Action begins May 1, with team playoffs. Enterprise’s Caroleah Brister, entered in girls singles, will compete in the individual title chase, May 2.
