The Lady Cobras and Lady Cats provided a tough, physical defensive battle as the game went scoreless in three innings of action before Wesson managed to break up the scoreless drought in the fourth.

The Lady Cats made several attempts to answer the Lady Cobras, but Wesson’s defense managed to shut down the opportunities for the win.

Senior Abbey Smith was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with five strikeouts and four walks. She pitched a one-hit shutout.

BC pitched a three-man rotation in the contest. Freshmen Christian Black absorbed the setback in relief for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and two walks. Alana Nettles (2K, 1BB) was the starter. Rheagan Welch (3K, 0BB) pitched the final two innings.

Second baseman Daley Roberts recorded the only hit for the BC offense with a single.

“We did not play well mentally,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Our approaches to the plate were bad. The girls have to learn to dig down when the going gets tough and battle through it.”

In junior varsity action, Wesson defeated Bogue Chitto 5-2.

Brooke Page directed the Lady Cobras at the plate with a double. Hitting safely were Harmoni Ashley, Anna Speights, and Olivia Allen.
