J.C. Kelly, 83, died April 16, 2013 in Springfield, Mass. Born on March 8, 1930 in Bassfield, he had worked for many years at Savage Arms. Mr. Kelly proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. A member of Alden Baptist Church, he previously served as an usher there.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Versie Kelly Sr. and Alice Fairman Kelly; four brothers, Tyree Kelly, Robert Lee Kelly, Ira Lee Kelly and R.C. Kelly; and a sister, Virgie Mae Clark.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Alice V. Kelly; son, Kenneth Wayne Kelly, of Boston, Mass.; daughter, Sharon Kelly, of Springfield, Mass.; siblings, Charles Kelly, of Mississippi, and Geraldine Kelly, of Springfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Justin Kelly and Shanea Kelly Jackson; daughter-in-law, Donna Kelly, of Springfield, Mass.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam Kelly, Cora Kelly, Shirley Williams, Bruce Williams and Horace Williams, all of Springfield, Mass., and Annie Kelly, Willie Kelly, Flora Williams, Deloris Williams, Ben Williams, James Williams and Henry Williams, and many other family members.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at noon at Alden Baptist Church, with a wake from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
