Donnis Mae Allred Adams

Donnis Mae Allred Adams, 89, died on May 16, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Lincoln County on November 11, 1923 to the late Lucius Allred and Emma Vaughn Allred.

She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. She was a graduate of Loyd Star High, where she was valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Piecemakers Quilters Guild and a national quilting judge. She won numerous quilting awards, most recently winning Best of Show and blue ribbon awards in the Port Gibson Quilt Show. Her quilts have been on display at the Brookhaven library and the art museum in Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Adams.

Survivors are her sons, Jimmy Adams and wife, Judy, of Brookhaven and Greg Adams and wife, Mary Ann, of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Kim and Ronnie Keene, Nona Carol and Todd Chauvin, Heath and Ali Adams, Cory Adams, Matt Boone and Jason Boone; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Beth Keene, Derek Keene, Christian Keene, Aaron LeFebvre, Zac, Jake and Maddison Chauvin, Laceton Boone, Brock, Emma and Marliegh Adams; brother, Alton Allred and Edith, of Brookhaven; and sister, Doris Keifer, of Florence.

The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Dorothey Malone, Elizabeth Coon, Marguerite Ferrell, Beulah Wall and Edna Wilson.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 19, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service. Service will be held Monday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Chapel. Interment will be at Riverwood Memorial Park.
