Funeral services for Harold “Tom” Smith of Brookhaven were 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at Macedonia Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith was the husband of Murlyn Smith and father of Karen Criswell and Paul Smith. He passed away peacefully on the 25th of May 2013. Mr. Smith was 85 years old. He was born on June 24, 1927 to Felix Smith and Lois Wroten Smith.

He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. After 40 years of service, Mr. Smith retired from the U.S. Forest Service. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was loved and adored by all whose lives he touched.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brothers, William Wesley Smith and Truly Edwin Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years; son, Paul Smith and wife, Jolynn; daughter, Karen Criswell; sister, Elaine Smith and husband, Robert Jr.; five grandchildren, Dr. Rebecca West, Emily Stephens and husband, Ian, Amanda Hale and husband, John, Kayla Kanak and husband, Kevin, and Steven Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Charlie Harrell, Brittany Hale, Marlee Stephens, Reagan Kanak, Karlene West and Amelia West.
