The Rev. John Jerry Smith

The Rev. John Jerry Smith, 75, of Ringgold, Ga. passed away Wednesday June 12, 2013. A native of Brookhaven, he resided in the Ringgold area for the past year.

Bro. Jerry was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Ringgold, and was a graduate of Clark College in Newton, where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree. He served as a Minister of Music for 57 years at different churches in Mississippi, was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, member of the Mississippi Singing Churchmen Choir and the Senior Citizens of Brookhaven Choral Choir.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Edith Allgood Smith. Bro. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggie Mae Patt Smith of Ringgold, Ga.; two daughters, Felicia Smith Parker (Paul) of Ringgold, Ga., and Darleen Runnels (Keith) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, Sammy Lee Smith of Brookhaven; three grandchildren, Tyler Runnels (Erin) of Chattanooga, Brett Runnels of Chattanooga and Adam Parker (Kimberly) of Laurel and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 17, in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Rob Borders officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 8 p.m. and Monday until funeral time at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold, Ga.
