A one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Jayess man in Lawrence County Friday night.

Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames said Shelton Troy Jackson, 46, of Jayess was traveling south bound on Highway 43 in his Ford pickup truck near the

Arm community when he lost control of his vehicle at approximately 10:15 p.m. Friday.

Thames said it appeared Jackson had been ejected from the driver’s side door of his vehicle after colliding with a culvert on the right side of the road.

Jackson was pronounced dead on the scene, Thames said.

The sheriff said there were no passengers in the vehicle and no witnesses to the accident.
