Pascagoula-Red captures DYB 8s World Series title

     WEST MONROE, La. — In an “All Mississippi” Championship Game, the Pascagoula-Red All-Stars defeated the Hattiesburg  American squad to complete an 8-0 trek through the Dixie Youth Baseball Coach/ Pitch 7-8s Division III World Series.  Pascagoula-Red won the Mississippi state title three weeks ago.

     Peachtree Ridge, Ga, won Bracket A with a perfect 5-0 record , thanks to a 7-6 victory over the Bracket A second place Hattiesburg American who ended the Pool Play round with a 4-1 record.

     Hattiesburg  American gained a measure of revenge against Peachtree Ridge with a victory in the semifinal round of the double-elimination championship tournament.

     Pascagoula-Red overpowered Peachtree 17-3 and Hattiesburg American 14-0 to reach the title game and finish the tourney unbeaten.

     The Lincoln County Americans made-their first-ever appearance in the World Series after finishing fourth in the state tourney. They posted a 1-4 record in Bracket B, beating Winnsboro, Texas.
