Coleman C. Lea

Coleman Lea, 86, of Brookhaven, passed away Aug. 4, 2013 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born on May 2, 1927 to Floyd and Alma Lea.

Services will be held Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, with visitation from noon until service time. Interment will be at Riverwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Lea was Lincoln County Sheriff (1968-1972), cattle farmer and also was a fireworks and food wholesale distributor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II, and was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a lifetime deacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Floyd and Alma Calcote Lea; his brother, Denver Lea; and his son-in-law, Guy Hitt.

Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Laverne Smith Lea; sons, Terry Lea of Brookhaven and Tim Lea of Brandon; daughter, Pam Hitt French and husband, Tom, of Brookhaven; sister, Jewell Davis and husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Jessica Hitt Bullock and husband, Nathan, Tiffany Lea Malpass and husband, Ben, Katie Lea, Adam Lea, Matthew Lea and Wade Lea; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Bullock, Noah Lea, Cole Bullock and Max William Malpass; and special friends, Mildred Virgil and Margaret Brown.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.
