A resident of Amite, La., David Scott Simpson died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at his residence. He was born Nov. 25, 1971 in Kentwood, La. and was 41 years of age.

He was a die-hard Dale Earnhardt and Hank Williams Jr. fan.

He is survived by his three daughters, Amber Lynn Simpson of Kentwood, La., Kaitlyn Cheyenne Simpson of Kentwood and Santanna Leigh-Ann Riley of St. Francisville, La.; parents, Gerald “Jerry” Simpson of Summit and Sally “Toye” Simpson of Kentwood; grandfather, C. J. Prine and wife, Bernice, of Central, La.; two sisters, Kristie McClendon and husband, Jamie, of Bogue Chitto, and Brandi Bowen and husband, Cody; nephew, Colton McClendon of Bogue Chitto; two nieces, Brooke Bowen of Summit and Danika McClendon of Bogue Chitto; three aunts, Charleen Simpson and husband, Buster, Tina Prine and Debbie Prevost; uncle, Ricky Prine; seven cousins, Dawn Booty, Chris Prine, Steven Snow, Karyn Prevost, Kevin and Keith Simpson and Kim Roberts; best friend, Sandra Riley; and special cousins, C. J. Simpson and Greg Chapman.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Earl and Mary Simpson and Sally Slaven Bates; aunt and uncle, Donnie and Frances Simpson; and three cousins, Theresa Simpson, Clayton Simpson and Geralynn Prevost.

Visitation is at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Greg Stewart. Interment is in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood. McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements.
