A “Celebration of Life” service will be held for Evelyn Wroten Dillon on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 3 p.m. at Siloam Baptist Church, Hwy. 98 E., Meadville, MS. She was laid to rest in a private graveside service. Franklin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the memorial service.

Mrs. Dillon, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in Cary, N.C. She was born on April 3, 1927 in Franklin County to James Owen and Winnie Evans Wroten.

She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church where she put flowers on the altar, rain or shine. She had been a hairdresser before she went back to school and began teaching at Franklin County Elementary School where she retired. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She loved her church and friends, and loved working in her yard and making flower arrangements.

Survivors include her sons, Sherrill Dillon and wife, Sheila, of Cumberland, Md., and Sherman Lee Dillon and wife, Louise, of Cary, N.C.; daughter, Kay Williams and husband, Ralph, of Brookhaven; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elaine W. Hutto; and brothers, Alton and James Edward Wroten Sr.
