PUCKETT – Coach Jackie Johnson’s Wesson Lady Cobras got their slowpitch softball season off to a fast start with a pair of Saturday victories in the the Puckett Classic. They defeated Mize 14-2 and Raleigh 6-2.

The Lady Cobras (2-0) host Brookhaven Monday. A junior varsity game starts the twinbill at 5, followed by the varsity.

Five seniors graduated off Coach Johnson’s Wesson squad.

Wesson 14, Mize 2

At the plate, Aurianna Vaughn and Bailey Middleton doubled for Wesson. Hailey Chassion singled twice. Singles were provided by Mary Beth Munn and Anna Speights.

Cheyenne Gladden was the winning pitcher.

Wesson 6, Raleigh 2

Wesson got a double from Kayla Britt in the win over Raleigh’s Lady Lions. Middleton singled twice. Vaughn, Chassion, Gladden, Amber Brinson and Kaitlyn Smith singled.

Gladden pitched the victory.
