BC cruises past Wesson

WESSON – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats overpowered Wesson to hand the Lady Cobras their first defeat of the season with an 11-3 triumph Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.
“We hit the ball really well as a team,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Our defense played well. Overall, it was a good night.”
The Lady Cobras (4-1) resume action Thursday. They host the McComb Lady Tigers. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.
The Lady Cats (4-1) return to action Tuesday. They visit Brookhaven to battle the Ole Brook Lady Panthers in a varsity game only. Game time is 6 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 11, Wesson 3
The Lady Cats came out strong in the first inning and continued their aggressive hitting in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, Wesson fought back and managed to trim into BC’s lead 7-3.
Bogue Chitto outscored the Lady Cobras 4-0 in the final seven innings to secure the win. The Lady Cats out hit the Lady Cobras 23-8.
Brook Myers pitched the win for the Lady Cats with one strikeout and no walks.
Cheyenne Gladden absorbed the setback for Wesson with one strikeout and no walks.
Christian Black sparked BC’s offensive explosion with a home run and three singles. Alexis Givens fueled the flames with three singles. Jordan McKinney helped with a double and two singles. Mattie Avants contributed a triple and a single. Earlnesheia Dillon, Colby Kirkland, Mallory Allen and Terrah Nelson hit a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Marshonikique Blackwell, Jaide McKinney and Myers.
Aurianna Vaughn paced the Lady Cobras’ offense with two singles. Sarah Robinson and Harmoni Ashley ripped a double apiece. Kayla Britt, Bailey Middleton, Hailey Chassion and Gladden hit safely.
In JV action, Bogue Chitto defeated Wesson 10-6.
Lauren McCaffery tossed the win for BC with one strikeout and no walks.
Reagan Kirkland paced the Lady Cats’ offense with three singles. Daley Roberts and Blackwell contributed two singles apiece. Zariah Matthews, Karly Leake, Lineka Newson and McCaffery hit safely.
Melody Ashley was the offensive leader for the Lady Cobras (2-1) with two singles. Abby Meredith and Gladden provided a double apiece. Hitting safely was Brooke Page, Maddy Jones and Kahe Westbrook.
