SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars managed to fight off the strong winds of the Purvis Lady Tornadoes to escape with a 7-5 victory Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.

The Lady Jags (3-1) invade Brandon Thursday to battle the Northwest Rankin Lady Cougars. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

Madison Bates was the offensive leader for the Lady Jags with a double and a single. Sarah Brock, Danaraye Parks and Jordan Fitzgerald contributed a pair of singles each. Rickera Martin had a double. Hitting safely were Jana McEwen, Lauren Wells, Madison Bigner, McKenzie Brock, Baylee Bryant and Allie Summers.

In JV action, North Pike edged Purvis 6-5.

Summers paced the Lady Jags (2-0) offense with a double and a single. Bryant provided a double. Jami Spears and Janiah Talbert hit safely.
