Lady Panthers clobber Franklin County

MEADVILLE – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers crushed the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 13-2 Thursday night in slowpitch softball action.
“The girls played a good defensive game,” said BHS coach Chad Walker. “We did a great job putting the ball into play when we needed a hit.”
The Lady Panthers (5-5) return to action Tuesday and host a varsity double-header. Brookhaven entertains Callaway at 5 p.m. and Bogue Chitto at 6:30.

Ole Brook quickly took care of business and shelled the Lady Bulldogs in four innings of work.
Alycen Speaks was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers with three strikeouts and one walk.
Shelly Case suffered the setback for Franklin County with no strikeouts and one walk.
Third baseman Katherine Shell led the offensive charge for Brookhaven with a homerun and a single. Chantel Quarles continued the onslaught with a double and two singles. Hitting safely were Jada Henderson, Haley Speaks, Danielle Batiest and Alycen Speaks.
Jamecia Starks was the offensive leader for the Lady Bulldogs with a double. Macy Brabham, Sierra Bethley, Jaleshia Bethley, Cheyenne Higgs and Emilee Wallace hit safely.
In JV action, Ole Brook shut out Franklin County 8-0.
Rileigh Allen tossed the win for Brookhaven with two strikeouts and no walks.
Kat Wallace paced the Lady Panthers’ offense with two singles. Niheshia Finley ripped a double. Jada Henderson, Tia Bussey and Cheyenne Motley hit a single each.
