Wesson surpasses McComb

WESSON – The Wesson Lady Cobras climbed back into the win column Thursday night with a 3-1 victory over the McComb Lady Tigers in slowpitch softball action.
The Lady Cobras (5-1) return to action Tuesday and host the South Pike Lady Eagles. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

Wesson came out and took control of the game as the Lady Cobras claimed a 3-0 lead in the first five innings of action.
McComb managed to trim into Wesson’s lead by pushing across one run in the sixth inning, but the Lady Cobras’ defense tightened up and closed the door on the Lady Tigers late rally to secure the win.
Cheyenne Gladden was the winning pitcher for Wesson.
Kaitlyn Smith provided the offensive spark to lead the Lady Cobras with a double and two singles. Sarah Robinson contributed a double. Hitting safely were Harmoni Ashley, Amber Brinson, Hailey Chassion and Gladden.
In JV action, Wesson clobbered McComb 13-1.
Kayla Britt tossed the victory for the Lady Cobras.
Sabria Green was the offensive leader for Wesson with a home run and a double. Abby Meredith provided a double. Aurianna Vaughn, Mary Beth Munn, Brooke Page, Maddy Jones, Carrie McSweyn and Melody Ashley hit safely.
