Jaguars conquer Franklin Co.

PRICEDALE – LaKedric Lee showed flashes of his speed and athletic abilities Friday night, as the North Pike Jaguars conquered their first victory over the Franklin County Bulldogs since 2001. North Pike beat the Bulldogs 34-20, behind 179 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Lee.

Franklin High, off to their first 0-2 start since 2009, will host Class 4A powerhouse McComb (2-0) Friday night in Meadville.

Lee, a 5-11, 205 pound senior running back, got the scoreboard buzzing in the first quarter on an electrifying 57-yard touchdown run. North Pike (2-0) added touchdown passes from QB Austin Smith of 50 yards to Jalen Jackson and 27-yards to Lee in the second quarter for a 21-0 advantage following extra point PAT’s from Tyler Vanderslice.

FCHS got on the board late in the second quarter off a fumble recovery in the end zone by Chris O’Quinn, cutting the Jaguar lead to 21-7 entering intermission.

The second half featured more big plays from North Pike, as Colton Magee intercepted a pass and returned it 27 yards for a TD. Lee added a 19-yard touchdown run.

The Bulldogs got a touchdown run of four yards from Malik Moore, and a TD pass from Chris Robinson to DeMarrius Tyler.

Robinson, the Bulldogs senior standout collected 117 yards rushing on 24 carries. He was three of five passing for 49 yards and a touchdown.

For the Jags, Lee had 179 yards rushing on 11 carries. Jackson added three receptions for 104 yards, while Smith was seven of 15 through the air for 198 yards passing.

On defense, De’Anthony King led the Bulldogs with 12 tackles. Jerry Hannon added six hits and a sack.

For the Jags, Magee had seven tackles and a interception return for a touchdown.
