Wesson clobbers Puckett

WESSON – The Wesson Lady Cobras clobbered the Puckett Lady Wolves to capture a 12-4 victory Thursday night in slowpitch softball action.

The Lady Cobras (7-1) return to action Tuesday when they visit McComb to battle the McComb Lady Tigers. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

Wesson came out strong and claimed a 7-2 lead after three innings of action. The Lady Cobras continued their scoring onslaught in the fifth and sixth inning and outscored the Lady Wolves 5-2 for the win.

Cheyenne Gladden was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cobras.

Kaitlyn Smith sparked Wesson’s offense with two home runs. Bailey Middleton fueled the flames with a double and a single. Amber Brinson and Gladden contributed a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Kayla Britt, Sarah Robinson, Harmoni Ashley, Hailey Chassion and Sabria Green.

In JV action, Wesson slipped past Puckett 4-3.

Brooke Page was the offensive leader for the Lady Cobras with two singles. Anna Speights, Sabria Green, Carrie McSweyn and Katie Westbrook singled.
