Lady Tigers edge Wesson

MCCOMB – The McComb Lady Tigers rallied to defeat the Wesson Lady Cobras 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.

The Lady Cobras (8-4) return home to host the Richland Lady Rangers today. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

The Lady Tigers, coached by Cody Hall, entertain the Brookhaven Lady Panthers today. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

The Lady Cobras and Lady Tigers battled back-and-forth in a defensive bout in the first four innings of action.

McComb managed to break up the scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth inning and pushed across three runs to take 3-0 lead.

Wesson answered the Lady Tigers’ challenge in the top of the sixth inning and tied the game at three all.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Cobras scored one run to claim a 4-3 advantage over McComb.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Tigers rallied to score two runs led by Katie Kalusche’s two-run home run.

Leyton Terrell was the winning pitcher for McComb with three strikeouts and one walk.

Cheyenne Gladden absorbed the setback for Wesson with four strikeouts and seven walks.

Kalusche was the offensive leader for the Lady Tigers with a home run and a double. Paige Brock contributed a double and a single. Terrell provided a pair of singles and Ashley Bond doubled.

Sarah Robinson directed the Lady Cobras with a home run. Kaitlyn Smith had a double and a single. Hitting safely were Harmoni Ashley, Kayla Britt, Hailey Chassion and Aurianna Vaughn.
