West Lincoln runners place third at Natchez

NATCHEZ – The West Lincoln boys finished third in the Natchez High School cross country meet, making a strong showing against larger schools in the 5K run.

West Lincoln’s Matthew Allred was second with a time of 20:21. Jason Watts was sixth at 21:23, followed by Kodie Carrol, 17th at 25:07, Matt Gill 18th 25:43 and Liam Rutland 23rd at 27:37.

The Lady Bears placed fourth in the varsity girls 2K run. Lillianne Rushing led West Lincoln with a time of 16:02, Lexis Leggett at 17:20, Carly Holden 18:21, Carlie Smith at 19:09 and Grace Williams at 24:25

In junior high action, West Lincoln’s girls finished in first place in the two-mile run. Georganna Allen led the Lady Bears with a first place finish with a time of 18:20. Jana Case was fourth at 20:08, Skylar Hall seventh at 21:03, Megan Gerald 12th at 22:22 and Leann Chisholm 13th at 22:32.

The WL junior varsity boys finished second and were led by Matthew Geis, who placed first at 14:26 in the two-mile run. Jordan Montgomery (14:50) was second, Adam Martinez 12th at 17:37, Baylie Hughes 14th at 17:44 and Garrison Coffey 15th at 17:49.

West Lincoln’s next meet is Sept. 28. They will be participating in St. Andrew’s Cross-County run at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, starting at 8:30.
