Gladys Smith Diamond, 101, of Hammond, La., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at Bell Mason Nursing Home in Hammond, La. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the church.

She loved gardening, reading, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family.

Mrs. Diamond was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Grey Delaughter and Mary Doll Smith; first husband, Cecil Smith, and her second husband, J.E. Diamond; daughter, Jeanette Ross; son, Donald Smith; grandson, Bruce Palmer; two brothers, Jesse Delaughter and James (Rube) Delaughter; and her five sisters, Nanny Bell Cock, Velma Delaney, Jessie Mae Delaughter, Laura Lowery and Sarah Morgan.

Survivors are her granddaughter, Beverly Coplin and husband, Tom, of Hammond, La.; grandson, Oscar (Buddy) Palmer and wife, Peggy, of Springhill, Fla.; her great-grandchildren, Bryan Coplin, Angela Bourgeois and husband, Chad, Jonathan Palmer, Cherie Palmer, Veronique Lauchner and Lance Palmer; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
