Lady Cats torch Stringer Lady Devils

STRINGER – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured a huge 6-4 victory over Region 8-1A foe, the Stringer Lady Devils Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.

“This was an important district win,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We did a great job getting an early lead. Our defense played really well.”

The Lady Cats (11-3, 2-0) return home to entertain the North Pike Lady Jaguars, Thursday night. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6.

 BC 6, Stringer 4 

The Lady Cats roared to claim an early 6-1 lead by the fifth inning and defend off the Lady Devils’ rally in the bottom of the fifth inning to remain undefeated in district action.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for BC with no strikeouts and two walks.

Teshia Jones suffered the loss for Stringer with one strikeout and three walks.

Christian Black and Alexis Givens paced the Lady Cats’ offense with a double and a single apiece. Mattie Avants, Mallory Allen, Terrah Nelson and Alana Nettles hit safely.

Madison Scoggins was the offensive leader for the Lady Devils with three singles. Kendallen Russell and Jones contributed a pair of singles. Ashley Valentine had a double. Hitting safely were Kaitlyn McCurty, Jamie Wade and Mandy Gambrell.

In JV action, Bogue Chitto rallied in the fourth inning to defeat Stringer 5-3.

Lauren McCaffery tossed the win for the Lady Cats.

Reagan Kirkland and Lineka Newsom provided the offensive punch to lead BC with a pair of singles. Jade McKinney had a double. Baileigh Jackson, Karly Leake and Marshonikique Blackwell hit safely.
