Several local and area schools will enjoy some good old home cook food this Friday night as local football fans gather to watch week five of the Friday Night Lights football frenzy.

Bogue Chitto and West Lincoln will be enjoying their homecoming festivities this Friday as former and past alumni return to their alma maters for their class reunions. BC entertains the Sacred Heart Crusaders, and West Lincoln hosts the Pisgah Dragons.

Brookhaven Academy Cougars are home this week, after a two-week road tour, to start their district race against the Amite School Center Rebels.

In other local action, Wesson travels to Pricedale to tangle with North Pike; Collins visits Monticello to battle Lawrence County; South Pike invades Franklin County; Copiah Academy hosts Parklane; McComb entertains Tylertown; Region 3A champion Hazlehurst invades Region 2A champion Bassfield and Crystal Springs visits Amite County.

Brookhaven, Loyd Star and Enterprise have an open date this week to nurse their injured players.

Brookhaven Academy (1-3), coached by Tripp McCarty, suffered a disappointing 22-20 defeat to the Bowling Green Buccaneers last Friday.

The Cougars are looking to rebound as they begin district action against the Amite School Center Rebels.

The Rebels (1-3), under the direction of coach Paul Hayles, are currently on a three-game losing skid. Union Christian Academy crushed ASC 38-6 last week.

BA’s top performers last week were:

Junior running back Connor Dorman directed the Cougars’ ground attack with 96 yards on 21 carries.

Quarterback Heath Hickman completed 23 of 34 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns.

Steven Williams Was the top receiver with six catches for 101 yards and a score.

Defensively, Tramel Shedd paced BA with eight tackles. Carter Culbertson contributed seven stops.

Bogue Chitto (4-0, 2-0),  coached by Gareth Sartin, captured another big win Region 4-1A action after thumping the Mount Olive Pirates 44-8 last Friday.

The undefeated Bobcats will put their record on the line as they prepare to battle the Sacred Heart Crusaders on Troy Smith Field.

The Crusaders (2-1, 0-1), coached by Lonny Schraeder, are enjoying a good season. They lost their first district game 34-20 to the Dexter Bulldogs last week.

BC’s top performers last week were:

Jermaine Blackwell was the offensive leader for the Bobcats’ ground attack with 14 rushes for 110 yards.

Brock Roberts completed five of his 10 passes for 89 yards. He also rushed for 67 yards on nine carries.

Defensively, Roberts led the Bobcats with 12 tackles. Jeremy Blackwell contributed with 10 tackles and a 45-yard interception returned for a touchdown.

West Lincoln (0-3),  coached by Willie Brumfield, is still searching for the Bears’ first win of the season. The Bears suffered a 10-0 heart-breaking loss in their home opener against the St. Patrick Fighting Irish last Friday.

The Bears hope to secure a victory over the Pisgah Dragons.

The Dragons (1-3), under the direction of coach Michael Granberry, snapped a three-game losing skid last week by defeating the Enterprise Bulldogs 34-24.

West Lincoln’s top performers last week were:

Junior running back Javian Mackabee directed the Bears’ ground attack with 46 yards rushing on 13 carries.

Senior quarterback Jonah King led the aerial attack, completing three of 13 passes for 45 yards.

On defense, senior lineman Tyler Moak paced the Bears with 13 tackles. Jamin Conrad provided 10 stops.

Wesson (0-4),  coached by Ronald Greer, hopes to put an end to their losing streak as they prepare to battle the North Pike Jaguars.

The Cobras suffered a bitter 38-19-homecoming loss to the Seminary Bulldogs last Friday.

The Jaguars (2-2), under the direction of coach Chris Smith, are searching to find a way to snap their two-game losing skid. The Germantown Mavericks crushed North Pike 37-22 last week.

Wesson’s top performers last week were:

Tyler Christmas directed the Cobras’ offense, completing three of 16 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Lewis powered the ground game for Wesson with four rushes for 25 yards

Defensively, Lewis led the Cobras with eight tackles.

Lawrence County (3-1),  coached by first-year coach Herbert Davis, is hungry for another win after clobbering the Prentiss Bulldogs 34-0 last Friday.

The LCHS Cougars are excited about defending their home turf against the Collins Tigers.

The Tigers (2-2), coached by Ryan Earnest, lost 28-12 to the defending Class 2A State Champions, the Bassfield Yellowjackets.

LCHS’s top performers last week were

Hayden Davis led Lawrence County’s offense, completing 13 of 23 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

T-Tez Cole paced the Cougars ground attack with 17 rushes for 181 yards. Kody Smith was the top receiver with three catches for 99 yards

Defensively, the Cougars held Prentiss to 131 yards total offense. Michael Polk, O’Cean Smith, and Demarcus Bridges were the top tacklers for the LCHS.

Franklin County (2-2),  coached by first-year head coach Chris Calcote, is riding a two-game winning streak after scalping the Tylertown Chiefs 17-14 last Friday.

The Bulldogs are ready to claim another potential win as they host the South Pike Eagles.

The Eagles (1-2), coached by Michael Andrews, return to the gridiron after enjoying an open date last week. South Pike hopes to climb back into the win column after a stunning 30-28 defeat by Hammond.

FC’s top performers last week were:

Jerry Hannon paced the Bulldogs defense with 16 tackles. Chris O’Quinn made 10 stops.
