The North Forrest Eagles soared past the Loyd Star Hornets 41-12 in high school football action Friday night on William E. “Sambo” Smith Field.

North Forrest improved its record to 2-4 overall, and the Hornets fell to 1-4 on the season.

The Hornets managed to get on the scoreboard in the third quarter, when senior quarterback Seth Farmer punched in a seven-yard run with 9:53 remaining. The Hornets failed to push across the two-point conversion.

Loyd Star scored their final touchdown in the fourth quarter, when Peyton Flowers powered nine yards to set up Farmer’s one-yard quarterback sneak to paydirt with 7:46 remaining.

Junior running back Peyton Flowers was the offensive leader for the Hornets with eight carried for 47 yards on the ground. Zac Arnold contributed four rushes for 27 yards.

Farmer led Loyd Star’s aerial attack, completing three-of-13 passes for 35 yards and one interception.

Arnold was the top receiver for the Hornets with three catches for 35 yards.

Defensively, Flowers directed Loyd Star with 12 tackles and three assists. Dustin Hart provided seven stops and one assist. Nicholas Smith had a quarterback sack. Cameron Smith intercepted a pass.

Loyd Star begins Region 6-2A action this Friday. The Hornets travels to Liberty to battle the Amite County Trojans. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
