WESSON – Another week brings another honor for the No. 7 ranked Copiah-Lincoln football team. Freshman quarterback Daniel Fitzwater has been selected as the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the 48-7 Co-Lin win over Itawamba. This is the second straight week for a Co-Lin player to receive the honor after wide receiver Casey Gladney was selected last week.

Fitzwater, a 6-6 signal caller from Shreveport, La., was 24-for-41 for 459 yards and four touchdowns. The third play of the game was a harbinger of the good things to come for Fitzwater and the Wolfpack offense. On that play Fitzwater escaped the Indian’s defensive pressure and threw a 73-yard touchdown bomb to Gladney. Fitzwater would connect with wide receiver Courtney Foy in the second quarter on a 31-yard touchdown pass. In the third quarter Fitzwater would throw a 13-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Koy McFarland and a 16-yard touchdown pass to running back Kelton Smith.

Fitzwater hit eight different receivers on the night and has his biggest passing game of the season against an Itawamba defense that was holding teams to only 164 passing yards per game.
