BC defeats Sebastopol

SEBASTOPOL – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats climbed back into the win column Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action. BC was the dominant Bobcats after sweeping the Sebastopol Lady Cats in the opening round of the Class 1A state playoffs.

In Game One, BC knocked off Sebastopol 5-4 in 11-innings. In Game Two, BC squeezed past Sebastopol 11-10.

“It was an exciting night,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “The girls showed composure and resiliency. I am extremely proud of them. We hit the ball well against a great defensive team. God truly blessed us tonight.”

Bogue Chitto (16-12, 3-1) advances to the second round of the playoffs. BC will host the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors, Saturday. Game times have not been determined at this moment.

BC 5, Sebastopol 4 

Sebastopol and BC battled to a four-all tie by the fifth inning in a tough defensive contest. Both teams remained scoreless until the 11th inning, when Bogue Chitto pushed across one run and held off Sebastopol for the victory.

Brooke Myer was the winning pitcher for BC with no strikeouts and one walk.

Whitney Billings took the loss for Sebastopol with no strikeouts and no walks.

Mallory Allen was the offensive leader for Bogue Chitto with a triple and two singles. Mattie Avants, Jordan McKinney, Terrah Nelson and Alana Nettles contributed three singles each. Myers had a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Christian Black, Colby Kirkland and Marshonikique Blackwell.

McKenzie Byrd paced Sebastopol’s offense with three singles. Abby Winstead, Bethany Myers, Meagan Leach and Billings provided a pair of singles. Chelsey Comans, Baylee Green and Brentley Comans hit safely.

BC 11, Sebastopol 10 

Bogue Chitto managed to get their going in the fourth inning to secured a 8-1 lead. Sebastopol battled back through the rest of the game to claim their first lead in the top of the seventh inning at 10-8.

BC refusing to go an extra game for the night, fought hard and rallied to score three runs and capture the win over Sebastopol.

Myer tossed the victory for BC with one strikeout and no walks.

Billings suffered another loss for Sebastopol with no strikeouts and no walks.

Colby Kirkland led Bogue Chitto’s offensive charge with four singles. Allen continued the onslaught with three singles. Earlnesheia Dillon provided a triple and a single. Nelson and Black had a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Alana Nettles, Myers, and Avants.

Morgan Bennett directed the Sebastopol Lady Cats at the plate with a home run and a triple. Meagan Leach, Winstead and C. Comans helped with two singles apiece. Bethany Myers, B. Comans, Byrd, and Arthur hit safely.
