A raucous crowd filled the old Enterprise gymnasium in its finale Friday night as the Raleigh Lions and Enterprise Yellow Jackets didn’t disappoint those in attendance.

The Yellow Jackets captured two varsity wins to close out the old gym as they prepare to make the move into their brand new gymnasium starting next week for home basketball games. The Lady Jackets dominated the Smith County-based Lady Lions 73-30. In boys’ action, Enterprise rallied for a 61-60 victory in overtime.

Enterprise hosts Cathedral Tuesday night for two junior high games starting at 4:00 p.m. followed by two varsity games starting at 6:00 pm.

A back-and-forth affair for 32 minutes wasn’t enough in the varsity boys game. It took an extra four-minute overtime period for the home-standing Enterprise Yellow Jackets (4-0) to knock off the Raleigh Lions 61-60.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “We were really fortunate to win this ball game. John Gray really shot the ball well for us in the second half. We’ve got to do a better job at end of the game situations.”

Raleigh carried a 23-14 lead at the half. Enterprise came out strong to take a 42-32 lead midway through the second half before Raleigh stormed back to tie the game at 49 after four quarters.

The overtime session saw Enterprise capitalize just enough at the free-throw line to secure the 61-60 victory.

John Gray’s 34 points led Enterprise. Dwayne Pendleton added a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Raleigh was led by Tiberious Ellis’ 20 points.
