Funeral services for Lorraine Whitehead, a resident of Brookhaven and formerly of Meadville are 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Morris officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitehead, 85, died Dec. 4, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born Feb. 15, 1928, to Stanley and Trudye Whittington Deer.

She was a longstanding member of New Zion and Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a wonderful mother. She loved animals and had a special dog “Tinker.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Robert Whitehead; one brother, Elbert Deer; one sister, Ina Mae Robbins; and a son-in-law, Robert Bob Scott.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Scott of Meadville; a son, Clark Whitehead (Janet) of McComb; eight grandchildren, Tyler Scott (Glenda) of Meadville, Darby Scott (Nicole) of Meadville, Jessica Curtis (Marvin) of Brookhaven, Wendy Weston (Scott) of Fairfax, Va., Corey Whitehead (Haley) of Summit, Rorey Whitehead (Carla) of Summit, Mendy McKenzie (Willie) of Picayune and Jana Calderone (Drew) of Birmingham, Ala.; and 19 great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Darby Scott, Tyler Scott, Rorey Whitehead, Corey Whitehead, Willie McKenzie and Pyron Taylor.
