Lady Cats plug Cathedral

NATCHEZ – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats roared past the Natchez Cathedral Lady Wave to secure a 54-22 win in Region 7-1A action Tuesday night.
In boys’ action, The Green Wave crushed the Bobcats 52-29.
Bogue Chitto resumes action Friday night as they visit Sand Hill to tangle with the Pelahatchie Chiefs and Lady Chiefs. The varsity girls tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys.
Bogue Chitto 54, Cathedral 22
The Lady Cats came out and ripped through the Lady Green Waves in the opening quarter to take a 21-5 lead and increase their lead to 29-13 at halftime.
In the second half, BC continued to provide too much firepower for Cathedral to handle as they hammered the Lady Greens 23-9.
Sophomore forward Christian Black sparked the Lady Cats with a game-high double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Mattie Avants fueled the flames with 13 points, five steals and five assists.
“The girls came out ready to play,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “We had a big first quarter to start the game despite coming off of the two week Christmas break. It was great to give everyone some playing time.”
McKenzie Milligan was the top scorer for the Lady Green Wave with 12 points.
Cathedral 52, Bogue Chitto 29
Cathedral jumped out to a 14-3 lead and was ahead 29-14 at the half. The Green Wave pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 14-5, and Arnold began pulling the starters in the fourth quarter with a comfortable lead.
Jardarius Anderson led in scoring with 15 points, and Alex Weadock added 11 points. Ishmael Blackmon, who was absent from the team over the Christmas break, chipped in with 10 points, and James Coley scored eight points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
No one for Bogue Chitto scored in double digits, and Dennis Rogers led the Bobcats in scoring with nine points.
