Bassfield rolls past Enterprise

In a battle of Yellow Jackets Tuesday night, Bassfield secured a sweep over Enterprise to tip off District 7-2A action on the hardwood.

In the varsity girls’ game, Bassfield claimed a 54-50 victory.

In the boys’ contest, Bassfield blasted Enterprise 73-25.

Both teams resume district play on Friday night. Enterprise travels to Columbia to meet East Marion. JV boys will tip off at 5 p.m. followed by varsity girls and boys.

Bassfield will return to Lincoln County to battle District 7-2A newcomer, West Lincoln, in Jack Case Gymnasium.

Bassfield 54, Enterprise 50

The varsity girls’ game swayed back and forth for four quarters before Bassfield rattled in some key baskets in the final minutes to secure a big road win.

After one quarter of fast-paced action, Bassfield held a slight 14-13 advantage. The Lady Jackets from Bassfield maintained a 27-22 halftime advantage.

Critical turnovers and missed baskets under the rim diminished Enterprise’s chances of victory late in the game.

Markie Case led Enterprise (8-8, 0-1) in scoring with 21 points.

Malexus Loftin fired in 22 points and Nicole Maye added 15 points to lead Bassfield.

Bassfield 73, Enterprise 25

The athleticism displayed by Bassfield was too much for Enterprise to handle in the varsity boys’ game as the Yellow Jackets from Jefferson Davis County throttled Enterprise 73-25.

Bassfield roared to a 37-7 advantage at halftime and never looked back in coasting to victory.

Joshua Williams tossed in 18 points and Jamal Peters added 17 points to lead the Bassfield attack.

Enterprise (7-9, 0-1) was led by Forrest Scott’s 8 points and Patrick Scott’s 7 points.
