TERRY-Terry swept a varsity double-header from Lawrence County in high school basketball action Tuesday night at Terry High School. In girls’ action, Terry won by a 44-23 score. In the boys’ game, Terry pulled away late for a 79-53 win.

Vicki Rutland’s undermanned Lady Cougars, minus injured center DaKendra Collins, are having trouble putting the ball in the basket. That trend continued on Tuesday, as Terry roared to a 17-6 first-quarter lead and were never seriously threatened. Nyah Tate led the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 6-13, with 12 points. Lorissa Baker added 11.

Lawrence County got 7 points from Deneisha Dickson. Nikedra Brown added 5 points and a game-high 6 rebounds. Latasha Rhodes and Alexsundria Thomas each had 3 steals. The Lady Cougars fell to 3-16 with the loss.

The Cougars’ momentum was short-lived, however, as Terry re-gained control of the game over the last 10 minutes, eventually claiming a 26-point win.

Terry, coached by Michael Specks, put four players in double figures. Josh Washington led the way with 23 points. Quan Reese added 15. Ke’Jerrick Taylor and Titus Ivory each added 10 points. The Bulldogs improved to 12-7 with the win.

Pat Bridges’ Cougars were led by Keyshawn Feazell, who had 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Gabriel Lewis hit three third-quarter 3-pointers en route to a 13-point night. Keith Davis led LCHS in rebounding with 6, while Gaylon Pittman and ShaCorey Pittman each pulled down 5. Phillip Moore handed out 7 assists. Lawrence County fell to 4-12 with the loss.
