East Marion soars past Enterprise

COLUMBIA – The Enterprise Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets suffered two disappointing setbacks in Region 7-2A action Friday night on the road, dropping a pair of games to the East Marion Eagles.

In the varsity girls’ game, East Marion used a 15-9 fourth quarter run to surpass the Lady Jackets 43-36.

In varsity boys’ play, East Marion throttled Enterprise 58-35.

Enterprise will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Bassfield for three games with a JV boys game tipping things off at 5 p.m.

East Marion 43, Enterprise 36 

A much-improved East Marion Lady Eagle team used their quickness and athleticism to wear down the Lady Jackets and claim a 43-36 victory.

Enterprise (8-9, 0-2) was led by Markie Case’s 17 points. Hannah Kirtfield fired in 10 points for the Lady Jackets. Courtney Greer’s six rebounds off the bench aided Enterprise in that department.

In a close ball game throughout, East Marion held a slim 28-27 advantage going into the fourth quarter. The home court proved to be the difference for the Lady Eagles as they controlled the fourth quarter.

East Marion was powered by Audrianna Howard’s 20 points.

East Marion 58, Enterprise 35 

Both offenses showed up early as East Marion held a 17-11 lead after a quarter of action.

Enterprise (7-10, 0-2) could only muster five points in the second quarter and trailed 31-16 going into the halftime break.

A 13-0 East Marion run to begin the third quarter put the game out of reach as the Eagles upended the Jackets 58-35.

Forrest Scott paced Enterprise with 17 points and six rebounds. Freshman Zach Hodges added 10 points and four rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.

LaToddrick Fortenberry fired in 22 points in the win for East Marion.

In boys’ junior varsity, Enterprise nipped East Marion 31-27. Davis Smith direct the Jackets in scoring with 10 points. Noah McKone added six points. Charlie James pumped in eight points for East Marion in the loss.
