Area residents are invited to a reception for the Piecemakers Quilt Guild Show Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.

Nearly 30 colorful, handmade works of art in quilt form have been hanging in the library for the public to enjoy for more than two weeks. During Thursday’s reception, visitors will have an opportunity to learn some of the stories about the older quilts and also view a quilt turning at 5 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, so please come and bring a friend and meet all these wonderful quilters, said Nancy Hanks-Myers of the Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild, which is sponsoring the show in conjunction with the Quilt Guild. Refreshments will be served.

BRAG will also have a table set up where interested persons can sign up to join the Art Guild. BRAG is the new name for the Fine Arts Committee of the Arts Council of The Brookhaven Trust. Just as the Fine Arts Committee hosted several shows a year at the library, BRAG will continue this tradition.

Immediately following the reception, BRAG will hold its monthly meeting in the Vernon Room of the library, and interested potential members are invited to attend and learn more about the organization.

At the meeting, BRAG will be electing an activities chairperson, and also will be discussing upcoming events and programs.

“We have some wonderful artists in this area, and we can all work together to become an art community sharing ideas,” Hanks-Myers said.
