Wilkinson Co. devours Wesson

WOODVILLE – The Wesson Cobras and Lady Cobras traveled to Wilkinson County to battle the Wildcats Friday night in their final regular season basketball contest.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cobras played a close game against the Lady Wildcats but ended up losing 53-50.

In boys’ action, the Cobras suffered a disappointing 87-69 loss to the Wildcats.

Wesson begins tournament action in Region 7-3A Tuesday at Crystal Springs. The Lady Cobras will play Hazlehurst at 6 p.m. The Wesson boys battle the host Crystal Springs at 7:30 p.m. at the Crystal Springs High School Gymnasium.

Wilkinson County 53, Wesson 50 

The Lady Cobras lost to the Lady Wildcats in a close game with a 53-50 final score Friday night.

Senior Brandi McInnis was the offensive leader for the Lady Cobras with a total of 15 points which included one 3-pointer. Freshman Tashay Glasper followed with 9 points. The Lady Cobras were 14/26 in free throw action.

Wilkinson County senior, Lineasia Palmer, pumped in a game-high 20 points to led the Lady Wildcats. Freshman Alexis Parker contributed 11 points. The Lady Wildcats were 8/14 in free throw action.

Wilkinson County 87, Wesson 69 

The Wilkinson County Wildcats came out strong and overpowered the Cobras to grab an 87-69 victory Friday night.

Senior Tanner Allen was the top scorer for the Cobras with 14 points. Sophomore Anthony Dixon scored 13 points and senior Marquis Lofton also put 12 points on the board that included two 3-pointers. The Cobras were 11/15 in free throws.

The Wildcats were led in scoring by senior Devin Voorhies who had a point total of 23. Another top Wildcat was senior Allenzae Staggers with 21 points. The Wildcats were 14/25 in free throw action.
