LAUREL – Not even a career night from Brookhaven senior forward Fred Trevillion was enough to save their season. He tossed in a team-high 26 points, but the Panthers fell to the Laurel Golden Tornadoes 77-70 Tuesday night, in the opening round of the MHSAA Class 5A South State playoffs.

The Panthers conclude their season with a 21-7 worksheet.

Brookhaven found themselves down 21-18 after one period, and 37-33 to start the second half. The Panthers entered the final 8 minutes down 57-51. Ole Brook shot 50 percent (24 of 48) from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe; committing only 9 turnovers.
